Manage everything on the billing page of the account portal: open it from the app’s Profile, or sign in at overcrank.ai.

The trial

Every new account gets 14 days of everything with 100 AI credits, no card required. When it ends you move to Free and keep the transfer tools; nothing is deleted.

Credits

AI features use credits. One credit is about one cent of AI usage. A typical Crankshaft instruction costs 1–2 credits; a Cranky exchange about the same; indexing a thousand clips for search about 4.

• Your monthly allowance resets on your billing date. Unused allowance doesn’t roll over.
• Top-ups (500 for $5, 2,000 for $18) never expire within a year and are used after the monthly allowance.
• The app shows your balance; it warns at 20% left and tells you exactly what to do at zero.

Team admins can set a monthly cap per member so one person can’t use the whole team’s credits.

Use your own AI key (BYOK)

Already have a Google Gemini account? A team admin can add its API key in the app: Settings → AI key, paste the key, then Test and save. Overcrank checks that the key works before saving it. From then on Crankshaft and Cranky run on your key and use no credits. Your subscription still covers the features, team seats, devices and notifications.

• One key covers the whole team on every Mac. The key is stored encrypted with your Overcrank account, so nobody has to add it again after reinstalling or on a new Mac. It’s never shown again in full, only its last four characters.
• If the key stops working (turned off, replaced, or out of quota), the app tells you and shows a Fix key button. It never quietly switches to Overcrank’s credits. Paste a working key to carry on.
• Remove it any time from the same screen; AI goes back to your plan’s credits.

During the trial this means unlimited AI at no cost to you. Claude and OpenAI keys can still be added in the portal under AI Keys.

Changing or cancelling

On the billing page you can switch between monthly and annual, move between Driver and Crew, buy top-ups, and cancel. Cancelling keeps the plan active until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then drops to Free. Downgrading Crew → Driver needs the team at one member first.

Failed payments

If a card payment fails you keep access for a 7-day grace period while the app and portal remind you to update the card. After that the account drops to Free until the payment goes through.
